BRABSON , HOBERT WESLEY, SR. - of Knoxville, departed this life, Tuesday, April 29, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Baptist Hospital. He was born May 4, 1936. He was an active member at First AME Zion Church, until his illness prevented him from attending. He served on the Steward Board, Bus Ministry, and served as a Sunday School Teacher. He was employed by Mason Dixon and Yellow Freight Truck Lines. Mr. Brabson coached Little League Baseball for years, and loved to fish and hunt. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Preceded in death by parents, Vanderbilt and Elizabeth Pearl Brabson brothers, Harding, DeClaude, Ronnie and Vanderbilt Brabson , Jr. sisters, Edna Johnson, Della Harris and nephew, Edgar Johnson, Jr. He leaves to mourn his passing: devoted wife, Wilma Jean sons, Hobert Jr. (Cheryl) of Cleveland, Tenn., Ronald LaVelle of Knoxville daughters, Giovana (Myron) Kingsberry of Germany, Keira (David) Wyatt of Knoxville, Sherola (Joseph) German of Atlanta, Ga. fifteen grandchildren, Destinee Brabson , Jeanine, Joseph, Stephen, and Stanton German Weston, Jonathan, David Jr., Kezia, Benjamin and Marcia Wyatt Curtis and Cameron Warner, Jamele and Jeane Kingsberry brother and sister-in-law, Alvin (Ruby) Brabson sister, Rosa Lee Carero sisters-in-law, Laura Jean Brabson , Charlotte Brabson , Linda Brabson , Georgia Mae Moore, all of Knoxville Royce Horne of Detroit, Mich., other family members, Brabson , Miller and Tippit families, a host of special nieces, nephews, and very special friends, too numerous to mention. Special thanks to Dr. Richard Lee, Dr. Ken Reece and staff Baptist Hospital nurses and Hospice Care. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003, at First AME Zion Church, 1900 McCalla Ave., funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Pastor Derrick Simmons, Eulogist. Interment in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The body may be viewed after 3:00 p.m. Friday at Jarnigan and Son Mortuary.
