Lloyd Andes Walker Jr., 88, of St. Simons Island died on Feb. 4, 2010. Mr. Walker, a native of Atlanta, was a graduate of Atlanta Boys High (class of 1940) and Clemson College (class of 1944) where he earned a B.S. in electrical engineering. He served as First Lieutenant in the United States Army from August 1944 through September 1946.
He was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corp. as an electrical engineer for 35 years in Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Hillside, N.J. After retirement, he was employed for 11 years by the U.S. government in the data systems division at Fort Monmouth, N.J.
In 1993, Mr. Walker and his wife, Ruth, retired to St. Simons Island. Mr. Walker ?rst visited St. Simons Island with his family at the age of seven and spent many vacations here.
He loved the ocean, boating, sailing and camping.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth Gray Walker; and four children, Kathryn Walker (David Kirkland) of Decatur, Howard Walker (Vanessa) of St. Simons Island, Martin Walker (Gail) of Brentwood, Tenn., and Ellen Walker of New York City. He is also survived by his sister, Lida Walker Askew of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service was held beside the ocean he loved so dearly.

Mr. Walker was a founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Coastal Georgia.
