John Lewis Powell, age 89 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Parkwest Medical Center. He was a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church and veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Louise K. Powell; 2nd wife, Callie M. Powell; son, Jimmy Harold Powell; grandson, Jeff Cox; brothers, Eddie Powell and Jack Powell.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Brenda Powell of Maryville, daughter, Helen P. Cox of Ooltewah, TN; grandchildren, Scott Powell and wife Tammy and Eric Powell; great grandson, Jacob Powell all of Maryville; sisters, Katherine Blevins of Madisonville, Bobbie Womack of Hixon, TN, Sue Travis of Chattanooga, Barbara Swaggerty, Eva Rudder and husband Dean all of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Beverly Powell of Knoxville and Sarah Powell of Johnson City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Collins officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadway Baptist Church Building Fund, 2329 East Broadway, Maryville, TN 37804.
