GEORGE , MINNIE CLEO - age 83, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002, at the Fairpark Nursing Home in Maryville, Tenn. She moved to Alcoa with her family at the age of ten. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School Teacher and was an active member of Missionary Circle #1. She was active in the community, serving as Treasurer for the Stephenson Street Bereavement Club. She retired from Martin Marietta, after 32 years of service. She was preceded in death by parents, Ina Mable and John Tate husband, Cas George son, Cass Leon George brother, Earl Tate , and sister, Alberta Tate . She is survived by sisters, Edith Tate and Viola Dowdle of Alcoa grandchildren, Kim (James) Marable of Dickson, Tenn., Karla George of Maple Shade, New Jersey, Marteace George of Huntsville, Ala. step grandchildren, Michael Carlton and Kelvin George of New York, New York, Mario (Sheila) George of Alcoa, Tenn., Pat George of Louisville, Tenn., and Brenda George of North Carolina devoted nieces, Joyce Cecelia Gathers and Shirley Henry of Alcoa, Tenn. great-grandchildren, Serita Pye, Aundrae (Karen) George , Kenya Pye and Edmond Pye several step great-grandchildren seven great-great grandchildren, one who was a special joy to her life, Malik George , and God daughter, Deretha Hill. Special friends, Georgia Gregory, Hattie Scott, Marva Reed, Hill Family, Jones / Piper Families and Mary Blair, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. R. J. Miller officiating, and Minister Simpson delivering the Eulogy. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Saturday. The remains may be viewed on Friday, after 12:00 Noon, at Foothills Funeral Home, 910 E. Lincoln Rd., Maryville.
