Wade and Anna Laura Jenkins celebrate 70 years of marriage Wade and Anna Laura Jenkins of Del Rio celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married in Newport on October 6, 1944 by the late J. Donald Cody. She is the daughter of the late William and Mary (Stokely) Ledford, and he is the son of the late Harvey and Polly Jenkins. Originally from Bryson City, NC, he met his future bride when he came to Del Rio to visit his family. He is a World War II veteran and is retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Mrs. Jenkins is retired from the Cocke County School System. They are the parents of Jerry Jenkins, William (Lucille) Jenkins, all of Del Rio; the late Ruby Ledford, the late Arnold Jenkins, Marie (Remus) Gentry and Louise Jenkins, all of Newport, and Patricia Jenkins of Del Rio. They have 65 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They have always attended Jones Chapel United Methodist Church.
