CATE , FERN - age 69, of Jefferson City, Tenn., passed away suddenly Sunday, September 16, 2001, as a result of a heart attack. She was born and raised in the Dumplin Community of New Market, May 2, 1932. Daughter of the late Perry and Ida Maybell Cate , she was preceded in death by sisters, Annabelle Chapman and Molly Snyder; brothers, Perry, Richard, Robert, Jim, and Cecil Cate ; grandchildren, Samatha and Sarah Brooks. Survivors: children, Betty Cate , Billie and David Brooks, all of Jefferson City, and Charlotte and Kenny Bates of Kodak; grandchildren, Richy Huffaker, Becky Mircle, and Michelle Huffaker; great-grandchildren, Ashley Huffaker, Joshua Shultz, Christian Deskins and Courtney Miracle; sisters, Martha Taylor and Della Pearl Cate , both of Dandridge, Vola Mills and Bonnie Collins, both of Jefferson City, and Gertrude Painter of Indiana. Funeral services Wednesday 2 p.m. at Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Rev. Kyle Cate and Rev. Jimmy Churchman officiating. Music by the Glen Mack Cate Family. Pallbearers: Larry Ford, David Ray Cate , Richy Huffaker, Jimmy Chapman, Jerry Cates and David Brooks. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6-9 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge.
