Bertie Ellison, Jr., born June 21, 1923 in Chapel Hollow, in the Old 15th area of Cocke County, died January 9th at home with family. He was a Charter member of Gethsemane Free Will Baptist Church, retired for Quaker Oats, and was a lifetime member of Poor Boys Bear Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline James Ellison; granddaughter, Karla Renee Holt; parents, Bertie Ellison, Sr., and Elizabeth Click Ellison; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jessie and Ada Elizabeth Price James; brothers, Aulden, Hobert, Carl, Phillip, Everette, Marshall and Estes; sister, Sarah Messer and three infant brothers. He is survived by his daughters, Elaine (David) Wadley, Nita (Harold) Bateman, Ada (Johnny) Pearce; grandchildren, Jerry Holt, Gayla Dawn (Darrell) Williams, Jimmy Graham, Billy Pearce, Kendall (Jessica) Wadley, Kimberly (Sam) Bertenshaw, Selena (Jeremy) Gideon, Tiffany, Ashley and Shawn Wadley; great grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Williams, Madison Holt, Trevor Pearce, Gemma Wadley, Lorelei Bertenshaw, Ethan Gideon, Lucas Gideon; sister-in-law, Grace Ellison, Swannie Ellison, Mable Lee Ellison; and many dearly loved nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and beloved cat Tom. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, Jabo and Tammy Frances. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm Monday, January 11, 2016 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Ron Carroll and Rev. Garry Gass officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
