Herbert Daniel Wright GREENE COUNTY, GA Herbert Daniel Wright passed away at age 99. Born in Sullivan County, TN, on Oct. 8, 1915, to Samuel Lawson Wright and Arlene Mays Wright, Mr. Wright resided in Tennessee until 1946, when he moved to New Jersey. He resided there until he moved to Camden, AR, in November 2005, and then moved to Greene County, GA, in March 2006. Mr. Wright was a resident at Willow Run Retirement Home from May 2006 to April 25, 2011. He was in Greene Point Nursing Home from April 26, 2011, until his death on March 4, 2015. His wife, Bernice Rita (Barry) Wright, passed away on April 27, 2008. A devoted husband, father, and a friend to many people, he never met a stranger. Mr. Wright was a diligent worker for many years before retiring in 1983. He was employed at Walker-Gordon in Plainsboro, NJ, for 25 years. He then worked for Container Corporation of America, Hightstown, NJ, for 10 years. He also worked 25 years part-time for Hamilton Township, NJ, as a bus driver. Mr. Wright also worked at Steelman's Nurseries in Lawrenceville, NJ, part-time for 15 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Trenton and then Princeton, NJ, and where he was a deacon at both. When he moved to Georgia, Mr. Wright became a member of Lake Oconee Church of Christ, Greensboro, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Rita Wright, a daughter, Minnie Kaye Powell, a grandson, Richard Wayne Curles, a great-grandson, Landon Michael Allen, four brothers, Christopher Columbus Wright, Samuel Lawson Wright, Charles Wesley Wright and Frank Wright, and a sister, Mary Gobble. Survivors include five children, Daphne Lou Rose and husband Charles of Richmond, VA, Lucille R. Durden of White Plains, GA, Kent B. Wright and wife Sherry of Mission Viejo, CA, Linda A. Moore of Republic, MO, and Anna R. Thompson and husband Dewitt of Bay Minette, AL; one brother, Noah Wright and wife Frances of Bristol, TN; 10 grandchildren, James Rose and wife Parrish of Anderson, SC, Sandra Rose of Anderson, SC, Michael C. Rose and wife Paula of Mechanicsville, VA, Robert Rose and wife Becky Mechanicsville, VA, Jeannie Price and husband David of White Plains, GA, Steven L. Durden of White Plains, GA, Catherine Goodnight and husband Jeff of Republic, MO, Danny Allen of Greenville, AL, Darlene Alexander and husband Willie of Mobile, AL, and Amber Thompson and husband Caleb of Milledgeville, GA; 10 great-grandchildren, Jennifer Price Merino and husband Fabian Sr. of Clayton, GA, Holly Price of Savannah, GA, Christina and Holly Rose of Mechanicsville, VA, Carlee and Chelsea Rose of Mechanicsville, VA, Jessica and John Steven Durden of Haddock, GA, Jasmyne Alexander of Mobile, AL, Charles Michael Goodnight of Republic, MO; two great-great- grandchildren, Morgan and Hallie Marie Thompson of Milledgeville, GA; two step- great-great-grandchildren, Fabian Jr. and Jazmin Merino of Clayton, GA; also there are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Lake Oconee Church of Christ, 4700 Carey Station Road, Greensboro, GA 30642, with Pastor Bobby Wood and Pastor Chuck Ramseur, officiating. Honorary pallbearers are David Price, Steven Durden, Danny Allen, Ben Rainey, Luke Anderson, Jim Pirkle and Kent Wright. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the McCommons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lake Oconee Church of Christ, P. O.
