U.S. Veteran Paul Edward Emert, age 65, of Rockford, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013. He was a deacon at Riverview Missionary Baptist Church for 37 years and he was called to preach God’s Word in 2011. He was a graduate of Walland High Class of 66 and served honorably in the United States Army. Additionally, he was a Locomotive Engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 39 years and a proud member of the United Transportation Union Local 0750 in Knoxville, TN, in which he served as Local Secretary and Treasurer, Local Chairman for Engineers, Delegate, Assistant General Chairman, and then General Chairman of GCA 898. He loved his family with all his heart. He will be missed as a loving husband, caring father, great papaw, and good friend, but most as a Godly man that loved the Lord. There are not enough words to describe what kind of man he was and not enough words to say how much he will be missed. Please remember the family in your prayers through this very difficult time. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Barbara Patty. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Vickie Emert; daughter and son-in-law, April and Rusty Turbyfill; son, Jed Emert and friend Angie Thompson; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Kimberly Emert; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Larry Hall; brother and sister-in-law, James and Beth Patty; sister and brother-in-law, Kaye and Wayne Heatherly; brother, David Patty; sister and brothers-in-law, Phyllis Tallent, Larry Boling, Roger Boling, Steve Boling, and Jeffrey Boling; grandchildren, Landon, Abby, Logan, Ethan, and Olivia Turbyfill, Gabe, Shelby and McKensie Emert, and Annabelle and Isaiah Emert; special people, Nichole Jones (Skooter) and Raymond Johnson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Bro. Jed Emert, Bro. Steve Poplin, Bro. Billy Moore, and Bro. Jimmy Miller officiating. Family and friends will gather 1:00 PM Friday, November 15, 2013, at Clarks Grove Cemetery for the interment, Bro. Gerald Jones and Bro. Donnie Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, (865) 982-6041, www.millerfuneralhome.org.
