Gladys Louise Whaley , 100, of the Mount Pleasant community, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Signature Health Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ollie Snyder ; husband, Ben Ajah Whaley ; a son, Julian Donald Whaley . She was a member of Good News Baptist Church. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Dwain Thacker of Cleveland, Tenn., Sylvia and Gilbert Ensley of Cohutta; one daughter-in-law, Mary Whaley of Dalton; grandchildren, Terry Ensley, Shirley Ensley, Gary Whaley , Scott Thacker, Steve Thacker, Devonna Grant and Bena Thomas; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral is today at 4 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Clay Sutton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
