James Andrew (Whistle) Samples, 63, of Newport, went to be with his Lord Saturday, July 23, 2006, at his residence. He was a laborer by trade and a Christian by faith. Mr. Samples was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Shelton Samples, and his parents, Donald and Lucy Belcher Samples. He is survived by one step-son, Kenny Willis, of Newport; one sister, Mary, and husband, Roy Trentham, of Newport; two brothers, Charlie Bud and wife, Betty Samples, of Newport, and Bobby and wife, Jean Samples, of Newport. Mr. Samples will also be sadly missed by his niece, Sandy Samples; nephews, Danny and wife Kathy Webb, Donnei and wife Trish Webb, Bobby and wife Lisa Samples, and Brian and wife Sara Samples; several great-nieces and nephews and family and friends who loved him dearly. The family received friends Sunday, July 23, 2006, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral service was conducted Monday at 2 o'clock, July 24, 2006, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom McMahan officiating. Interment followed at Dunn Cemetery, Carson Springs. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. James Andrew (Whistle) Samples.
