Ralph C. Fortenberry, age 79 of Sevierville, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went home to be with the Lord and his wife, Helen, on Sunday night May 20, 2001. He was member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Fortenberry was preceded in death by his wife Helen and his brother Charles. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Cherokee Textile Mills after 43 years of service. He was a charter member and officer of the Sevier County Rescue Squad. He played baseball in the old Sevier County league and later coached Little League Baseball with his good friend Buck Rutledge. He loved fishing, pitching horseshoes and watching U.T. sports. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Funeral service 1 PM Wednesday at Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel, Pigeon Forge with Rev. Al Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Tuesday at Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel, 220 Emert Street, Pigeon Forge, TN. Rhoda holding her son Tom Coggins, and at far right is son William Isaac McGaha. Another daughter, Margaret, died young.
