Mrs. Martha P. France , age 88 , of Newport , passed away Tuesday evening , February 9 , 2016 , at her home.
She was a member of Northport Baptist Church.
Mrs. France was a former owner of the Coffee Pot Restaurant and Newport Lighting and Paneling. Mrs. France managed the restaurant for eight and one-half years.
She was also the founder of Frills and Freckles Children's Clothing Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard France , parents John and Rhoda France Phillips , sisters Annie Henderson and Helen Gribble, and brothers C.L. Phillips , Charlie Phillips , Bill Phillips , John Phillips , and Hubert Phillips .
Survivors include her son Jim (Shirley) Denton of Gatlinburg, and grandchildren 'Little Jim' (Lassiter) Denton and Bo Denton, all of Newport . Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend a special 'Thank you' for the care given to Martha by Jeff Manes of Newport and by the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice.
Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 , at Resthaven Memorial Gardens for the 11:00 a.m. funeral service that will be held in the Resthaven Mausoleum Chapel. Pastor James Suggs and Pastor Kris Brady will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the church of your choice.
