Collins-White wedding held at family farm
Leslie Nicole Collins and John Mark White were united in marriage at four o’clock in the afternoon on September 22, 2012, at the family farm of the bridegroom’s maternal grandparents in the Houston Valley Community of Cocke County.
The Reverend Dustin Wilds, cousin of the bridegroom, of?ciated at the ceremony, which included a special yellow rose tribute to Michelle Collins, cousin of the bride.
The couple exchanged vows beneath an archway built by the bride’s father, constructed of barn wood from a dismantled barn on the bride’s family property. The union was symbolized with a sand ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Derenda Collins of Mars Hill, North Carolina.
She is the granddaughter of Sherman and Bea Collins of Weaverville, Mississippi, Johnnie Allen of Mars Hill, and the late B.L. Allen, Sr.
She is a 2007 graduate of Western Carolina University and is currently completing an Early Childhood Education internship through Western Carolina and is employed by Big City University, tutoring second and third grade children, in Cleveland, Tennessee.
The bridegroom is the son of George and Bureda White of White Pine. He is the grandson of Elsie Wilds of Houston Valley, and the late Jerry L. Wilds, and the late George W. and Belva White.
He attended Walters State Community College and is currently employed by Baker Concrete Construction in Cleveland, Tennessee as a Quality Control Inspector.
The bride wore an ivory lace couture wedding gown with veil, and carried a bouquet of sunflowers, red roses, and orange wildflowers The bride’s father escorted her down the aisle.
Matron of honor was Susie Collins-Roberts, sister of the bride. Susie wore a knee-length burnt orange chiffon dress with brown cowboy boots.
Bridesmaids were Tanya Roberts, Michelle Presnell, Bekah Henderson, and Emily Ellison, sister of the bridegroom, and in spirit Michelle Collins.
The bridesmaids wore sunflower yellow, knee-length chiffon dresses with brown cowboy boots. They carried bouquets to match that of the bride and fashioned of sunflowers, red roses, and orange wildflowers.
Best man was Justin Gilbert. Groomsmen were Jimmy Tuttle, Jerry Massey, Anthony Holt, Dennis Wilds, and Jacky Pack Junior bridesmaid and junior groomsman were Zoe Presnell, cousin of the bride, and Evan Ellison, nephew of the bridegroom.
Flower girl, Ali Presnell, scattered fall leaves down the aisle and was escorted by the bridegroom’s nephew, Emerson Ellison, carrying a sign reading, “Uncle John, here comes your Girl!” Zoe wore a long chiffon yellow dress, and Ali wore a floor-length ivory chiffon dress. Both girls were barefoot.
Music was provided by Larry “Hawk” Grooms. Barbara Wyatt and Luanne Roberts directed the rehearsal and wedding.
The bride’s mother was attired in an autumn brown street-length dress. The bridegroom’s mother wore a fall plum street-length dress. Both wore corsages of miniature sunflowers with greenery and ribbon.
The farm was decorated with dark red, orange, and yellow mums, votive candles in mason jars, pumpkins, and hay bales. The barn was decorated with mini lights, corn shocks, and votive candles in mason jars. Tables in both the barn and beneath the canopy were decorated with ivory cloths, burlap table runners, floating tea lights in mason jars and bouquets of sunflowers, red roses and orange wildflowers. Guests enjoyed a catered barbeque buffet.
The servers were Kathy and Joe Austin, Sherry Foshie, Angel Hurley, Vickie and Charles Shipley and Jaunita Willis.
The crowd enjoyed listening to music provided by Barefoot Nellie and Company Blue Grass Band of Chattanooga. Children enjoyed playing corn-hole games, hand-made by the bride’s father. A four-tiered ivory wedding cake and a mandolin groom’s cake were highlights of the setting.
Family and friends from North Carolina, Dandridge, Del Rio, Newport, White Pine, Greeneville, and Cleveland attended.
The couple currently reside in Cleveland, Tennessee.
