Harold J. Poteete, 70, formerly of Hot Springs, North Carolina, passed away Monday, July 31, at the Veterans Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, following a short illness.
He was retired from the Air Force and a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church in Hot Springs, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lillie Poteete; and his sister, Kathleen Bright.
He is survived by his sons, Mike Poteete and his wife, Lorraine of Waleska, Georgia, Don Poteete of Cartersville, Georgia, and Steve Poteete of Asheville, North Carolina; daughters, Phyllis Poteete and Jan Grimsley and her husband, Bill, all of Asheville, North Carolina; brothers, Ken Poteete and his wife, Linda, and Frank Poteete and his wife, Ruth, all of Hot Springs, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kent Poteete of North Carolina, Connie Armstrong and her husband, Dean, of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, Jillian, Katie and Erin Grimsley of Asheville, North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Conner Armstrong of Spruce Pine, North Carolina.
Service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fairview Methodist Church in Hot Springs, North Carolina, with Rev. Will Pruitt and Rev. Bobby Hayes officiating. Mr. Poteete will lie in state from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Military rites will be provided by D.A.V. Post #102.
