Michael S. Baker , 76, of Belfair died Jan. 4, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born April 4, 1922, in Kansas City, Kan., to Arthur and Mayme (Butler) Baker . He was raised in Saint Louis, Mo.
On Aug. 11, 1958, he married F. Ann McFadden in Bellflower, Calif. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Mr. Baker served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 on the USS Samaritan in the American area and the Asiatic-Pacific. He was awarded the Victory Medal. From 1946 to 1952, he worked as a photographer. He later worked for 32 years as a production superintendent for Filtrol Chemical Company in Vernon, Calif., retiring in 1984.
He and his wife were instrumental in the building of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair. He was a member of the church building committee from 1986 to 1993.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel of Manasquan, N.J., and William Scrimpsher of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Mock of Belfair; four grandchildren, Laura Baker of Manasquan, Michael Mock of Portland, Ore., Jason Scrimpsher of Cypress, Calif., and Michelle Scrimpsher of Huntington Beach; and three great-grandchildren.
Mass was conducted Jan. 8 at Prince of Peace Church.
