(August 15, 1920 - April 6, 2006) Roscoe Norton, loving husband and caring father, age 85, of Newport, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 6, 2006, in Johnson City Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was of the Church of God faith. Roscoe pastored Lincoln Avenue Church of God until his health failed him. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Norton; mother, Mamie Magnolia Norton; sons, Benjamin Lee and Hack Arliss Norton; grandchildren, Ronnie Lee and Mary Ann Norton; brothers, Bartley, James, Andrew, and Robert Norton; and sister, Geneva Sane. Roscoe is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen; children, David and Clyde Norton of Newport; Shirley (Maurice) Moore of Parrottsville; daughter-in-law, Linda Norton of Newport; grandchildren, Benjamin Joseph Norton of Newport, Keith (Lynn) Norton of Parrottsville, Erin, Marci, and Caleb Moore of Parrottsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pedro (Betty Lou) Norton, Herbert and Danielle Norton, all of Dandridge, Denver Norton of Newport, Barbara Crum of Newport, Debbie Lewis of Newport, and J. D. Sane of Parrottsville. Numerous, nieces and nephews, and close family members; Steve (Melissa) Norton of Newport, Jeff (Lisa) Norton of Newport, Doris Ellison of Del Rio, Jeffery (Karen) Norton of Anchorage, Alaska, Khrystena and Amber Norton of Newport; and special friends Mr. Bill Holt of Hot Springs, NC. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Robert Ashley officiating. Burial will follow in White Cemetery.
