Mary Ellen Norton, age 91, of Newport, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at home surrounded by her family. She was of the Church of God Faith. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 63 years, Roscoe Norton; parents, Horace and Loveade Sane; sons, Benjamin Lee, Hack Arliss and David Miller Norton; grandchildren, Ronnie Lee and Mary Ann Norton; sister, Nellie Sane; brothers, Terry, Herman and Harley Sane. Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Clyde Norton of Newport, Shirley Moore of Parrottsville; daughter-in-law, Linda Norton; grandchildren, Benjamin Joseph (Sharon) Norton all of Newport; Keith (Lynn) Norton, and Caleb, Erin and Marci Moore all of Parrottsville; great grandchildren, Kirsten Moore of Parrottsville; sister, Eva Nease of Greeneville, TN; sisters-in-law, Mary Sane of Parrottsville, Barbara Crum of Newport, Debbie Lewis of Newport; brother-in-law, J. D. Sane of Parrottsville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pedro (Betty Lou) Norton of Dandridge, Herbert (Danielle) Norton of Dandridge, and Denver Norton of Newport; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. James Suggs officiating. The burial will follow in White Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, March 27, 2009 at Manes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cocke County Unit, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909 or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
