August 8, 1936 - July 14, 2016 Resided in Gatlinburg, TN Peggy Maples Mize, age 79 of Gatlinburg, TN passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016. Peggy was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother who married her high school sweetheart, Otha "Bud" Mize. She supported his military career for 21 years and had many adventures with Bud and their two children before retiring and coming home to Sevier County. Although she had many hobbies, her biggest passion was her love of people. She loved surrounding herself with friends and family at her home or second home, her camper. She gladly opened her doors to many of her loved ones over the years. The rose gardens surrounding her house not only reflected her love of nature, but they also provided a small glimpse into her personality: beautiful and welcoming. Even though we must say goodbye for now, we take comfort in knowing that we can still visit our loving memories of Peggy and like her roses those shared memories are planted deep in our hearts were they will continue to inspire new flowers to bloom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha "Bud" Mize; father, Sidney Lillard Maples; mother, Edna Maples; sister, Ruth Hunter Survivors: Son: Scotty Mize and wife Robin Daughter: Robin O'Meara Grandchildren: Chad Allen, Amanda Hill, Megan and Casey Mize, Ashley and Sean O'Meara Brothers: Roy Maples and wife Pam, Ralph Maples and wife Mona, Robert Maples Sister-in-law: Sara Watson and husband J.B. Many Nieces and Nephews Funeral service 7 PM Thursday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Metts officiating.
