Edward E. “Eddie” Baker, 86, of Pigeon Forge went home to be with his Lord on Thursday August 23, 2007. Eddie served in the United States Navy during WWII and was most proud for taking part in the D-Day invasion at Normandy, where he survived the sinking of his battleship. In 1947 he came to Gatlinburg, where he became a pioneer in the Gatlinburg Candy business. Eddie owned and operated Bakers’ Candy for nearly a half century.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Maples Baker, and son, Mark Baker.

Sons: Gary Baker and wife Vickie, John Baker and wife Carol
Grandchildren: Joe Baker and wife Jessi, David, Caity,
Logan, and Rebecca Baker
Great grandchildren: Joseph Andrew Baker, Jr., Eleanor Jessup

Several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as many loving friends including special friend Lynne Webb
Funeral service 2 PM Sunday at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel in Pigeon Forge with Mr. Jim Parton officiating. Interment will follow in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens with Rev. Bill Maples officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Saturday at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel, 220 Emert St., Pigeon Forge. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
