LOWE , GERALD (JERRY) THOMAS - age 81 of Maryville passed away at 5:30 PM, on April 30, 2003 at the Morningview Village TCC. He was a member of First Baptist Church Maryville, where he was an inactive deacon, a member of the Hugh Coulter Sunday School class, and had served as church clerk for a number of years. He retired from South Central Bell after 38 years of service and was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. During World War II he served in the 81st Infantry Division for 3½ years where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy on Peleliu Island. He was preceded in death by: son, Randy Thomas Lowe parents, Issac and Lula Kidd Lowe sisters, Jessie Wilcox, Annie Lail, Nellie Webb and Stella Huskey. Survivors include: wife of 54 years 10 months, Eileen Coulter Lowe daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Randy Teague of Tyrone, GA grandson and wife, Ryan & Staci Teague of Alpharetta, GA grand-daughter, Julie Beth Teague of Tyrone, GA brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Pat Coulter, Max and Betty Coulter, June and Shirl Daniels, and Doyle Huskey as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2003 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Charles Ballard and Rev. Greg Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:30, Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Smith Mortuary. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Mission Fund or Family Life Center Building Fund at First Baptist Church, Maryville, 202 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maryville, TN 37801.
