Emily Chesney Young , 5, of Wears Valley, Tenn., and formerly of Cartersville, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010, at her residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.
A celebration of Emily 's life will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 23, at North Pointe Church in Adairsville with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Burial will follow in Cassville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Emily Young Cancer Fund, _ Coosa Valley Federal Credit Union, 1149 N. Tennessee St., Cartersville, GA 30120.
The family received friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, GA 30120.

Emily Chesney Young, 5, of Wears Valley, Tennessee and formerly of Cartersville passed away Monday, April 19, 2010 at her residence following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born June 26, 2004 in Cartersville, she is the daughter of Joseph Lee Young and Priscilla Gail Young. She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Hal Campbell, Sr., Paul Blalock, Mary Whitley, and Gladys Maples; and her uncle, James Young, Jr.
Emily loved horses and loved aggravating her brothers. She loved singing, dancing, and playing outside. She also loved make-up and fingernail polish. Emily's loving spirit and infectious smile touched all who met her.
Survivors include her parents, Joseph and Priscilla Young of Wears Valley, Tennessee and formerly of Cartersville; her brothers, Austin, Christian, and Brendan Young of Wears Valley, Tennessee; her maternal grandparents, Hal Campbell, Jr. of Sevierville, Tennessee, Gail Maxwell and Steve Curry of Calhoun, and Kim and Jan Maxwell of Cartersville; her paternal grandparents, Joyce and Roger Freeman of Cartersville and Jimmy and Helen Young of Newton, Alabama; her great-grandmothers, Emily Campbell of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Opal Freeman of Perry, Florida; her aunts and uncles, Jeremy and Lindsey Maxwell, Kim Mathison, J. Kevin Young, and Angela Young; and several cousins.
A celebration of Emily's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2010 at North Pointe Church in Adairsville with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Burial will follow in Cassville Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Emily's father, Joseph Young; her brothers, Austin, Christian, and Brendan Young; and her grandfather, Jimmy Young. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Damon Cannon, Jeremy Maxwell, Justin Amos, Kim Maxwell, B.J. Young, Steve Curry, Jason Waits, Roger Freeman, and Hal Campbell, Jr. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
