He was a faithful member of Brown Springs Baptist Church and its mother church, Big Springs Baptist Church. He retired for the Tennessee Highway Patrol 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lois Grooms; and father-in-law, Fred Hartsell. He is survived by wife, Frankie Grooms of Knoxville; daughter, Amanda McCamey (Todd) of Knoxville; brother, David Grooms of Cosby; grandchildren, Allie McCamey of Knoxville; mother-in-law, Lorene Hartsell of Newport; and special friend, Linda Kiker of Greeneville. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm Saturday, April 16, 2016, with funeral services following at 2:00 pm in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Richard Long officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Big Springs Baptist Church.
