Barbara Jean Russell, age 73. of Newport, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jeffrey Russell, and Rick Russell; parents, Garfield and Eula Ramsey; brothers, Herbert and “Seabo” Seward Ramsey; sisters, Ida Mason, Beulah Shoemaker and Bea Holt; grandchildren, Racheal and Timothy Russell. She is survived by her husband, Hugh William Russell, Sr.of Newport; sons, Hugh William Russell, Jr., and his wife Joyce of Waynesville, NC, Calvin W. Russell and his wife Ruthann of Alger, Ohio; sisters, Christine Mason of Newport, Betty Green and husband Lloyd of Newport; brothers, James Ramsey and wife Mary,of Newport, George “Buck” Ramsey and wife, Beulah of Bybee; grandchildren, Christa Brooks and husband Mark of Whittier, NC, Heather Russell of Knoxville, Erin Brooks and husband Matt of Whittier, C, Stephanie Anders and husband Travis of Erwin, TN, Rebecca Painter and husband John of Jacksonville, NC, and Christopher Russell of Newport; two step grandchildren, Chelsea and Jordan Lane of Newport; great grandchildren, Rachel and Hunter Brooks; step great grandchildren Paige and Haley Brooks.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 5, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tom Mooty and Dr. Rich Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Monday, September 4, 2006 at Manes Funeral Home.
