Arnold Lee Evans, age 79, born August 11, 1923, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 23, 2012, whom he served faithfully for over 40 years as choir director at Morganton Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Lottie Owens Evans ; daughter, Rebecca Evans;; brothers, Clarence, Coy and Troy Evans; half sisters, Lillian Wilder and Gladys Owens; sister-in-law Jewel Hurst Evans. Survivors include his wife, Carole Brookshire Evans; sons, Dewayne (Dianna) Evans, Gary (Gretchen) Brookshire, and Jeff (Cari) Brookshire; daughters, Cindy Amos and Kim (John) Carson; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Everett Evans, Roy (June) Evans, Junior (Geneva) Evans, Owen &Willie ("Bill") Evans, Kenneth (Jen) Evans; sisters-in-law, Mildred Evans and Edna Evans. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 in the Smith West Chapel with Rev. Tommy Self, Rev. Darrell Millsapps, and Rev. Scott Huffstetler officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Morganton Cemetery in Greenback for the interment. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
