Justin Rathbone, age 52, passed away at his home in Black Mountain, NC, on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Justin was born in Cocke County, TN to Charles and Iva Lee (Hall) Rathbone.
He graduated from high school and joined the National Guard where he served proudly twelve years.
Justin worked at Anvil Knit Ware as a supervisor until they closed operations, and he also worked at the BP station in Black Mountain. It was the spot you could find him drinking coffee and playing pranks on his friends.
Anyone who knew him would say he was the best and nicest man they had ever met. He was a big man with a heart of gold and was a true friend to many. Justin loved his children and playing with his grandchildren Maddison and Hunter. He was there for any and everyone to lend a hand, even if he didn’t know them. Justin made wonderful impacts on everyone he met and who knew him. He will always be remembered, loved dearly, and remain in everyone’s hearts. All who knew him will miss him greatly.
Justin is survived by his wife Kathy Rathbone, parents Charles and Iva Lee Rathbone, sons Teddy Justin Rathbone (Randa Glenn) and Ronald Trantham, Jr., daughters Cathy Lee Jones (Dustin) and Kimberly Trantham, sisters Melaine Phillips and Charla Rathbone, brother Willie Rathbone, and his pride and joy: his grandchildren: Andrew, Makala, McKenzie, Maddison, and Hunter.
The family received friends Monday, April 7, 2014, in the chapel of Wilson Family Funeral Service from 6:00—7:30 p.m. The funeral was held Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed in Mountain View Memorial Park.
