(October 7, 1937 - June 6, 2010) U.S. Veteran Kenneth Bryant, age 72, of Newport, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the Life Care Center in Morristown. He was a member of White Pine Church of God, and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Martha Bryant; and brother, Buddy Bryant. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Edna Poe Bryant; son, Kenneth Bryant, Jr. and wife Vicky; daughters, Kim Buckner and husband David, and Tisha Helton all of Newport; brothers, Paul Bryant of Ohio, Stanley Bryant of Kentucky; sister, Ella Dunn of Newport, Laverne Riner of Morristown, Euvella Bailey of Ohio; grandchildren, Leslie Bryant, Michael Buckner, April Bryant, Dustin Buckner, Logan Helton, Tyler Helton, Katie Helton; step grandchildren, Jason Monday, Jennifer Monday and Jeremy Monday; several other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at White Pine Church of God, with Rev. Larry Frazier, Rev. Ottis Ball and Rev. Calvin Hammontree, officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the church prior to the funeral.
