Mrs. Amburgey, of Matthews, passed away on November 4, 2006.
Mrs. Amburgey was born on July 25, 1925, in Blount County, TN , to the late Charles and Arybell Viars . She is preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
Mrs. Amburgey was a past President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 637 in Hopewell, Virginia. She loved gardening and sewing and took an active interest in community affairs. She attended Sardis Presbyterian Church and was a volunteer at the Matthews Help Center.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Andy Amburgey; daughter, Judy Bragg and her husband, Ellis; stepchildren, Anita Amburgey and Andy Amburgey, Jr.; sister, Hazel Plemons ; grandson, Michael Bragg and his wife, Jennifer; and granddaughter, Jennifer Bragg.
Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 3700 Forest Lawn Dr, on Monday, November 6, at 2:30 PM with Rev. Dr. Jane Fobel officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn East Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 6, 1:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Matthews Help Center.
