A memorial service for Marion Winslow Buchanan , a longtime Evanston resident who was active in many civic organizations, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Christ Church, 470 Maple, Winnetka.
Mrs. Buchanan , 77, died June 20 in her home.
She belonged to the Evanston Historical Society Guild, the auxiliaries of Evanston and Glenbrook hospitals, Woman's Club of Evanston, Women's Republican Club of Evanston, and Lyric Opera, Evanston chapter.
She also was a member of the Art Institute of Chicago, Arden Shore Association, North Shore Auxiliary of the Chicago Maternity Center, St. Andrew's Society, Antiquarian Society and Chicago Botanic Garden.
Born in River Forest, she earned a bachelor of arts degree from Rosary College in that suburb and a master's from Northwestern University.
She was married to the late Robert Buchanan , former president of Evanston-based Food Guild Corp.
For many years, Mrs. Buchanan was a prominent amateur tennis player, winning numerous trophies playing in North Shore tournaments.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Ann Seed, and two grandchildren.
Burial was private.
