WILSON , ALVIS ELMER, SR. - age 83 of Greenback, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002 at the family home. He was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded in battle in Italy and also received 4 Battle Stars. Preceded in death by parents, Nelse and Ethel Weaver Wilson and brothers, Oscar, Carson, Charlie and Bob Wilson . Survivors: wife: Margie Marine Wilson daughter and son in law: Karen and Gary Carver of Maryville son and daughter in law: Alvis Jr. and Cathy Wilson of Maryville grandchildren: Sherri Gunderson and husband Sam, Christopher Wilson and Meredith Wilson brothers and sisters in law: P.G. and Bonnie Wilson of Georgia, Nelse Jr. and Mary Charles Wilson of Greenback, Harold and Charolette Wilson of Maryville, Bill and Freda Wilson of Maryville, Larry and Linda Wilson of Washington State sisters and brother in law: Vonette Word of Greenback, Margie & John Phelps of Maryville and Joan Gibbs of Greenback brothers in law and sisters in law: Kenneth and Hope Marine of Maryville, Mahlon and Marguerite Marine of Alabama, Harold and Bonnie Marine of Virginia sisters in law and brother in law: Olief Butcher of Knoxville and Elaine and Bill Roberts of Greenback special friend, Kathleen Hearon of Maryville several nieces, nephews and cousins.
