Cecil Karl "CK" Vaught , 62, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at his home after a lengthy illness with cancer. Mr. Vaught was a native of Winding Gulf, W.Va., but had made Knoxville his home for the past 30 years. He retired from Mayfield Dairies and was employed by CHS Textiles until his declining health. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oakes and Ruth Vaught ; sisters, Janet Shackelford and Ruth Ellen Hamilton; a brother, Glen Vaught ; and a stepson, Chuck A. Newman. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Bernice Newman Vaught ; stepsons, Rock A. Newman and wife, Rebecca, and Michael Touchton; stepdaughters, Joy Jones and husband, Bobby, and Debbie Wilson and husband, Bob; two very special grandsons, Anthony and Andrew Newman, all of Knoxville; sisters, Doris V. Bowling, Harriet Baines and Marion Sowers; a brother, Ernest "Pete" Vaught ; sister-in-law, Blanche Vaught ; several nieces and nephews, all of Virginia. Mr. Vaught is at Highland South Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, where the family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Highland South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meridian Baptist Church, 6513 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tenn.
