Charles Fred (Stopper) McCoig, 68, of 3305 Vickie Street, Morristown, passed away suddenly Sunday at his home after suffering a heart attack.
He was a retired employee of the Tennessee Department of Safety - the Highway Patrol Division. He was presently the owner-operator of the McCoig Construction Co.
He was a member of Leadvale Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Templin McCoig; a son, Charles Fred McCoig Jr.; and his parents, Charles and Rose Welch McCoig.
Survived by his wife, Marie Bishop McCoig of Morristown; son, Scotty McCoig of White Pine; sister, Bobbie Hair of White Pine; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Gerry McCoig and Bill and Carolyn McCoig, both of White Pine; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Leadvale Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Richey and Rev. Jim Duffell ofÞciating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. The Tennessee Highway Patrol will serve as Honor Guard and honorary pallbearers.
Farrar Funeral Home, White Pine, is in charge of arrangements.
