Callie M. Black, age 88, of Hartford, departed this world to be with our Lord, Sunday, September 4, 2016. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. She was a faithful member of Blacks Chapel Baptist Church. And retired after 23 years of service from BASF Corporation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Black and her son, Curtis. She is survived by her loving children: sons, Tilmon (Susan) Black, Ricky (Ollie) Black, of Hartford, Ray (Barbara) Black, Jr., of Newport; daughters, June (Phil) Fischer of Hartford, Donna (Odean) Gilliam, Louise (Steve) Freeman of Newport and Janet (Lee) Weatherford of White Pine; sister, Beulah Howlett; brothers, Dolmon (Mary Lo) Mooneyham and Elbert Mooneyham , all of Hickory, North Carolina; twenty two grandchildren; thirty three great-grandchildren; and a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Special “Thank You” to the staff at Jefferson County Nursing Home, especially Olga Calfee for the loving care they provided to our beloved mother. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Blacks Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Raines and Rev. Danny Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Family Cemetery. Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com.
