Mymie Jo Henderson Melyea, age 59, of Bristol, TN, went to be with the Lord Sunday January 2, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mymie Jo was born on July 12, 1945 in Hartford, TN, to the late William D. (Medis) and Lanie Jane Smith Henderson. She was raised as a child in Seabrook, N.J. where she attended Grammar School. She also attended Bridgeton High School in Bridgeton, N.J. She moved to Bristol, TN with her family in the late 70’s. She remained in Bristol, TN area where she attended Bradley St. Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. McElyea is survived by; her husband, Charilie B. McElyea Jr.; two sons, John Houston Raines, serving in Iraq, and Joseph Patrick Raines of Bristol; one step-daughter, Shannon Brooks, of Bristol TN; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother, Rondy Ray Henderson, Sr. of Bridgeton, N.J.; three sisters, Mary O. Gaddy of Bridgeton, N.J., Lucillie A. Langley of Vineland, N.J., and Geraldean Cogdill Frazier of Marietha, S.C.; two aunts, Mrs. Dale Henderson Stidham of Bridgeton, N.J. and Callie Black of Hartford, TN; one uncle, Jess Henderson of Grassyfork, TN. She was the grand-daughter of the late Thomas and Annie Henderson of Grassyfork, TN.
Funeral services will be held Friday January 7, 2005 at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home located on Locust Street in Bristol, TN.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rev. Dennis Burnette will be officiating the services.
Graveside services will be held Saturday January 8, 2005 at Eastern Heights Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Daniel Gentry, David Phipps, Harry Langley, Jr., Joey McElyer, Kenny Tilson, and Ronnie Trivette, Jr.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
