Robert L. was born November 23rd, 1915, in Birmingham, Ala. He later moved to Chicago, Ill., where he worked for the Chicago Board of Education for 40 years and retired in 1973. During his retirement, he was head of the Deacon board at Macedonia Baptist Church in Newport, TN. He is survived by his wife, Dellatine Saunders; three daughters, Barbara Saunders, Dawnita Carr, and Charlene Pearson; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Service will be September 30, 2003, at 5:00 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center-Washington Park East. Calling 4 to 5 (one hour prior).
