Marian D. Berry age 80 of Springfield, Mass., formerly of Newport, Tennessee, departed this life on Monday Nov. 6, 2006. Her faith in the Lord and her dedication to her family and friends remained steadfast throughout her life. This attribute endeared her to all who knew her. Marian was the fifth child of the late Roland and Oray Dykes, Sr. In her early years she moved from Newport, Tn., to Chcago, Ill., where she resided for a number of years. In her later adult years she relocated to Springfield, Mass., where she was employed at Westover Air Force Base. Marian was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Berry and three siblings; Nettie Sue Swaggerty, Bernice Banks, and Roland Dykes, Jr. Her survivors include three sisters, Della Saunders, Mamie Julian, Essie Barton, two sons Charles E. Woods of Rockville Md., Sanford Woods of Springfield, Mass., daughter in law Carol Woods., four grandchildren Eric Woods of Rockville, Md., Jana Woods-Jefferson of Washington, DC., Gioia Woods of Springfield, Mass., Mark Woods of Chesapeake, Va., 5 great-grandchildren Jordan Woods, Imani Moore, Gregory Jefferson, Noel Jefferson, and Evan Jefferson. She will also be missed by a host of nieces , nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday November 14, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum. Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral services at Manes funeral Home. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to all, for expressions of love, sympathy and prayers during this time of bereavment.
