Tom McCarter, age 75 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012, at his home. He was a Deacon at Broadway and Madison Avenue Baptist Churches, Secretary of Deacons at Madison Avenue Baptist Church and was a Church greeter, and co-chairman of the Food Ministry team. He graduated from Maryville High School and the University of Tennessee, served in the U. S. Army, U. S. Air Force and the Air National Guard at Rhinestein, Germany. He worked at ALCOA for 30 years where he was a supervisor in the storeroom, was treasurer of Knox Area Corvair Club, was past member of Alcoa Kiwanis Club, was past president of the Blount County Republican Party and also belonged to the Masonic Lodge. Mr. McCarter was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Leigh McCarter; parents, Clay and Frances McCarter; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lee and June Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Taylor McCarter; daughter and son-in-law, Kim & Clint Juday; granddaughters, Karissa Juday and Kailyn Juday; brother and sister-in-law, M. C . and Helen McCarter of Harragut, TN; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Glenn Cummings and Rev. Jack McCarter officiating. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Magnolia Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Madison Avenue Baptist Church.
