Joe Neil Adams, age 90, of Seymour, passed away, Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Methodist Hospital, in Germantown, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and son, Stella Kate Adams and Leslie Glenn Adams, parents, Ezra Ellis Adams and Ellie Waters Adams, step-mother, Lela Lloyd Adams, brothers, Martin Adams, Charles Adams, William Adams, Jimmie Adams, and Allen Adams, sister, Sally Bryan. Joe was a strong religious man devoted to his family and loved by all who knew him.
He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he previously served as Deacon as well as Treasurer and Trustee. He was a WWII Army veteran serving with the 59 th Infantry, Company A, First Platoon. He was an inspector for Alcoa Aluminum Company for many years.
Survivors:
Daughter and son-in-law: Susan Adams Ellis and Dr. John Ellis III, of Germantown, TN
Grandchildren: Kristin Susanne Ellis, of Washington DC, Brent Leslie Ellis, of Germantown, TN, and his fiancée Ashley Wimberly of Olive Branch MS, and Laura Ruth Ellis of Germantown, TN.
Great-granddaughter: Alexis Grace Ellis who was his pride and joy.
Brother: Ellis Adams and wife Veanna of Wears Valley, TN
Sisters: Mildred Shepard Chambers, and Edith Whaley and husband Gene
Andy and Vivian Kirby, who he loved like a son and daughter, and who was always there for him.
Many nieces, nephews, and close family members of whom he was so proud to be a part of their family.
Funeral service 2 PM Saturday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. Troy Cody and Rev. W.A. Galyon officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery.
