He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and son, Stella Kate Adams and Leslie Glenn Adams, parents, Ezra Ellis Adams and Ellie Waters Adams, step-mother, Lela Lloyd Adams, brothers, Martin Adams, Charles Adams, William Adams, Jimmie Adams, and Allen Adams, sister, Sally Bryan. Joe was a strong religious man devoted to his family and loved by all who knew him. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he previously served as Deacon as well as Treasurer and Trustee. He was a WWII Army veteran serving with the 59 th Infantry, Company A, First Platoon. He was an inspector for Alcoa Aluminum Company for many years. Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law: Susan Adams Ellis and Dr. John Ellis III, of Germantown, TN Grandchildren: Kristin Susanne Ellis, of Washington DC, Brent Leslie Ellis, of Germantown, TN, and his fiancée Ashley Wimberly of Olive Branch MS, and Laura Ruth Ellis of Germantown, TN. Great-granddaughter: Alexis Grace Ellis who was his pride and joy. Brother: Ellis Adams and wife Veanna of Wears Valley, TN Sisters: Mildred Shepard Chambers, and Edith Whaley and husband Gene Andy and Vivian Kirby, who he loved like a son and daughter, and who was always there for him. Many nieces, nephews, and close family members of whom he was so proud to be a part of their family. Funeral service 2 PM Saturday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. Troy Cody and Rev. W.A.
