STERCHI, ELIZABETH PRATER "PINKIE" - age 97 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2012. Pinkie will be remembered as a kind and faithful servant, both at home and in the community. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a gracious hostess and talented cook whose table extended beyond the family dining room. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Pinkie was an avid football fan and surprised many with her knowledge of the game. She was a life-long member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, a faithful supporter of The Little Creek Academy and Sanitarium, a member of the Dixie Highway Garden Club and Cherokee Country Club, and a member of the Knoxville Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities. Pinkie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Edwin Prater and Beulah Smith Prater Pratt; loving husband of 48 years, Robert Hugh Sterchi; and daughter-in-law Adrienne Smathers Sterchi. She is survived by sons, Robert Hugh Sterchi, Jr. (Andy) of Loudon TN, and George Louis Sterchi (Gail) of Lenoir City TN; grandchildren, Laura Sterchi Folk (Ben), Janet Adrienne Sterchi, Susan Medaris Sterchi (David Moore), Kathryn Elizabeth Sterchi, and Robert Louis Sterchi (Jessica); great grandsons, Benjamin Joseph Folk, Lee Handly Folk, and James Reed Sterchi; cousins, Sarah Louise Prater Mott and John Harvey Smith; sisters-in-law, Faye Sterchi Coulter and Frances Sterchi Griffith; as well as many nephews and nieces. Pinkie's family wishes to thank the staff at NHC Farragut for the love and exceptional care they provided in the final years and days of her life. The graveside service will be at 1:30 pm at Highland Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Clay Harrington officiating. Pallbearers: Ben H. Folk, Louis Sterchi, Ben J. Folk, Lee Folk, James Sterchi, and David Moore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials honoring Pinkie be sent to Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, 9132 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923; Little Creek Sanitarium, 1811 Little Creek Lane, Knoxville, TN 37922; or the charity of your choice .
