WOLFENBARGER, ADA OWNBY - age 98 of Corryton, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt, prayed to her Heavenly Father, "Precious Lord, take my hand and lead me home." On Monday, August 31, 2009 at 4:40 a.m., God called his faithful, loving servant to her eternal home. Ada was born February 12, 1911, in Greenbrier, Tennessee (Sevier County) before it became part of The Great Smokey Mountains National Park. She was the second of eleven children born to Rev. Fred Walter Ownby and Sophia Orlena Whaley Ownby. Ada was nine years of age when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord. Ada was a lovely, caring, and devoted woman who witnessed her love for her Lord daily. She spent many years of her life helping in various ways, as she could, those who were in need physically, materially, and spiritually. Ada became a member of Union Baptist Church in 1964 where she taught Sunday School until she was 75 years of age. She was the oldest living member of her church. "To know her was to love her," and we all did. She left her imprints here on earth, and they will live in our hearts forever. Ada was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Cletis A. Wolfenbarger; son, Edward (Eddie) Wolfenbarger of Nashville; parents; sisters, Ruth Ownby of Greenbrier, Bessie Ownby of Banner, Margie Rhodes of Knoxville, and Wilma Davis of Seymour. Survivors: son, William (Bill) Wolfenbarger of Woodstock Ga.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Wolfenbarger of Nashville; grandsons, Robby, Tommy, Todd (Mariah) and Timothy (Rachel) Wolfenbarger; granddaughters, Lynn (Dale) Bates, Julie (Terry) Atkins, and Deborah (Dave) Creasman; great-granddaughters, Krystal, Sacha, Julia Grace and Carys Wolfenbarger, Robyn Atkins, Leah Creasman, and Stephanie Johnson; great-grandsons, Gavin and Galen Wolfenbarger, and Allen Dale Bates; brothers, Hubert (Polly) and Ralph (Alice) Ownby of Corryton; sisters, Edith Reed of Fayetteville, Ga., Naomi (Bert) Farmer of Knoxville, Mattie Drew of Seymour, and Bobbie Underwood, with whom she lived, of Corryton; and an abundance of nieces and nephews. The family expresses their appreciation to her friends and church family for their prayers and for the beautiful cards of encouragement they have sent through the years; for the wonderful care given to her from the staff of Hillcrest North; for the special love and care of David and Rosa; and for those who sat with her throughout her last days: Avery, Jessica and Jaclyn. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Mortuary followed by the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in Stevens Chapel. Rev. John Thomerson and Rev.
