U.S. Veteran Charles D. “Chigger” Kron, age 61, of Maryville, being forgiven by God has entered into His Arms of Love. Chigger finished his earthly journey Thursday, May 24, 2012. He proudly served his country joining the Army in 1969. He served in the 101st Airborne Division and was most proud of his Army Ranger Tab. On April 15th, 1971, in Hue, South Vietnam, he was seriously injured while helping to rescue several injured soldiers. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with “V” (Valor) Device, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with the Campaign Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, Oversea Service Bar, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, and Marksman Badge (M16). He worked in survey ten years for TVA and retired from the US Postal Service as a Maryville City Carrier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Johnnie V. Kron, Sr., and mother-in-law, Ada Hearon. He is survived by his family whom he truly loved and who will always love him. Survivors include his wife of 40 years and 4 days, Linda Carol Hearon Kron; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ben and Barbara Kron, Jr., Rick and Shirley Kron, and Paul Michael and Lynn Kron; nieces and nephews, Heather, Rick, Joe, Jim, Michael, Rachel, Brittany, Julie, Stephanie, Holly, Isabelle, Brian, Jeff, and Megan; father-in-law, Marlow Hearon; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Anita and Paul Clark, Dwaine Hearon, Larry and Carolyn Hearon; and many friends and loved ones. The family would like to thank the staff on 5-South and 2E; special friends, Carolyn and Crystal; and compassionate Doctors, Dubayr, Catron, Floyd, and Shafi. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 910 Walker School Road, Maryville, TN 37803, (865) 984-5206. Funeral service will be held 5:00 PM Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Scott Linginfelter officiating. Family and friends will gather 11:00 AM Monday at Centenary Cemetery for the interment with full military honors.
