WEST , JAMES ALBERT "BIG BUDDY" - age 78 of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at his home, with family by his side. He was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church in Knoxville. He was a Tech Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by: parents, Albert and Stella West brother, Roy West and sisters, Alberta Vinsant and Hazel Bennett. Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Pearl V. West of Knoxville daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Kenneth Boles of Knoxville son and daughter-in-law, Sam and LeAnne West of Rockford, TN granddaughter and husband, Misty and Joe Kelley of Halls special great grandson, Jeremy R. Kelley "Little Buddy" sisters, Dorothy Caldwell of Seymour, Blanche Quinn of Knoxville and Mildred Gorman of Maryland. He had several nieces and nephews and friends and family. Funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Berry Chapel, with Rev. Dewey Cooper officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be friends and family of Mr. West . Honorary Pallbearers are: Dennis R. Scates and Kenneth R. Miller. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. www.berryfuneralhome.com.
