Rev. James H. Kinser, age 94, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born November 24, 1919, in Harland, Kentucky.
Rev. Kinser served as a pastor in Tennessee and Virginia areas for over 65 years. Those churches included Catherine Nenny, Whitesburg Baptist, Friendship Baptist, Concord Baptist, Fairview Baptist, Ewing First Baptist in Virginia, Buffalo Trail Baptist, Piedmont Baptist, First Baptist Tazewell, Northport Baptist, Talbott Baptist, French Broad Baptist, and Nance’s Grove Baptist.
He also was a teacher/principal at Fairview Marguerite School and a teacher at Warrensburg School.
Rev. Kinser served as Director of Missions for the East Tennessee Baptist Association, Cocke County.
He also served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hobert and Vinia Kinser and two spouses Geneva Ward Kinser and Betty Whitehead Kinser.
He is survived by his sons James (Janet) Kinser of St. George, SC and Alan (Brenda) Kinser of Morristown; daughter Carol (Claude) Musick of White Pine; brother Don (Ina) Kinser of Kingsport; two stepsons James Whitehead of New Lexox, IL and Robert Whitehead of New Market; stepdaughter Pat (Mike) Jones of Apollo Beach, FL; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice and caregiver Dennis Triplett for their loving care and compassion.
Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. William Blevins officiating. The family will meet for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends Monday prior to the services at the funeral home.
