J.C. Morgan passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012. His 83 years of loving life on this earth were spent fishing lakes all over the eastern United States, with his family, and helping and loving others. Born August 5, 1929 in Fountain City, TN, where he was a consignment candy salesman, until 1967, when he moved his family to Townsend. For 40 years he operated the Davy Crockett Store and Riding Stable in Townsend. Upon retirement he enjoyed his fishing time on Weiss Lake, Alabama and spent several months of the year in Guanaja, Honduras as a Charter Fishing Boat Captain, surviving Hurricane Mitch in 1999. J.C.'s adventurous nature was slowed down by his declining health in later years. He continued to fish, stayed involved with his church, Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church and loved his Sunday School Class. He will always be missed by his wife: Mary Lynn (Nelson) Morgan, five children: Marilyn (Gary) Chappell, Becky Garner, B. Craig Morgan, John (Allison) M. Morgan, Leslie Morgan, and Pam Morgan; his five grandchildren: Shannon (Shannan) Skidmore, Shelley (Jared) Bible, Jared Morgan, Miranda (Robby) Ford, and Chelsey (Roger) Williams; and his Great Grandchildren: Emily, Joseph, and Riley. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the Fellowship Hall at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church. Viewing will be conducted in the Sanctuary at the church during the same hours. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM at the church with Rev. Kristie Banes officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Tuckaleechee UM Building Fund or Tuckaleechee UM (Our Gang Honduras Orphanage Fund), 7322 Old Tuckaleechee Road, Townsend, TN 37882.
