MCSPADDEN , EDITH M. - age 75 of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, April 01, 2004 at Baptist Hospital. She was a faithful member of Cumberland Baptist Church and served as the Director of the Children's Sunday School Programs for many years. Edith retired from Knox County Schools after over 40 years of touching the lives of children as a teacher. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include: her husband of 56 years, Samuel Boyce McSpadden , Sr. sons and daughters-in-law, Sam, Jr. and Brenda McSpadden , and Bill and Donna McSpadden daughter, Mary McSpadden of Birmingham, Al. grandchildren, Susan Gibson (Jason), Emily, Matt, and Atlee McSpadden brothers, Jim (Doc), Alvin, Everett, Garfield, Richard, and Charles McCarter sisters, Ruby Brookshire, Linda Cook, Margaret Peterson several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2004 7:30 pm at Cumberland Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Lane, Rev. Herschal Chevalier, and David Angel officiating. Family and friends will meet at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Sunday at 2:00 pm for the interment. Pallbearers will be: Jim Alexander, Gene Scrivner, Bob Payne, David Harrill, Larry Smith, and Tom Smith. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Church. Arrangements by Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Ave. Knoxville, TN 37921.
