Harley Ramsey to vie for Miss TN Teen Princess
NEWPORT—Harley Desiree Ramsey of Newport will compete for the title of Miss Tennessee Teen Princess on March 15 in Jackson, TN.
The 15-year-old Cornerstone Academy freshman will represent Greene County in the event as Miss Greene County Teen Princess.
She is the daughter of Marlene Pridemore and Mark Ramsey, the granddaughter of Marvin and JoAnn Strange and Jimmy Fred and Janice Ramsey, and the niece of Bunis and Peggy Bailey.
During the six months Harley has reigned as Miss Greene County Teen Princess, she has become more engaged with St. Jude Hospital and selected “Helping Heart: St. Jude Awareness” as her platform.
“I have always loved children and seek to make a positive impact on those around me,” Harley said.
In her work for St. Jude, Harley has led group activities in making crafts for St. Jude such as blankets, treat bags, and poster, and has proposed “Adoption Now,” seeking to encourage unaffiliated families to adopt children and send items to St. Jude patients throughout the year. Thus far, six children have been adopted.
Harley has also attended St. Jude fundraisers, including a car show that raised over $2,000 and a pageant that raised over $5,000 for the hospital.
“Being introduced to St. Jude opened my eyes to a world of children who need our help. It has made me realize how fortunate I am. Sometimes just a smile makes a child’s day,” Harley says.
Harley has also worked to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network, a sponsor of the Miss Tennessee organization.
“The experience of being involved with the Miss Tennessee organization has helped me become a leader,” Harley states, “and has increased my self-confidence.”
