PAYNE, DAVID J. - age 74, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the retired owner of Pittsburgh Coatings and Supply, Inc. and preceded in death by his parents, "Pete" and Evelyn Payne; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hugh and Juanita Hodsden; and brother-in-law, Bob Hodsden. Daddy will be greatly missed, he showed us love and life skills. His passion was spending time in Florida with his wife and friends. He was a perfect gentleman until the end. He will be greatly missed. Survivors: wife of 52 years, Barbara Payne; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Kim Payne, Mark and Kelly Payne, Joey and Abby Payne, Lee and Kristian Payne; grandchildren, Cole & Kimi Patrick, Rebecca & Stephen Baker, Josie. Payne Joel Marshall, Bart, Tyler, and Hallie Payne, Jordan Payne, Cole Patrick, Rebecca Baker, Jarrod, Josie, and Jonas Payne, Cory, Clay, Cameron and Courtney Payne; great-grandchildren, Mason, Carson, and Jayce; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ben Pelton; nieces, Jennifer Hodsden, Whitney Pelton, Lorisa Williams, and Cynthia Collins, uncle Jack King and wife Maxine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Halls/Powell Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Knoxville, 1819 Dry Gap Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918. A funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Mortuary with Justin Bailey officiating. The family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Cemetery for a graveside service and interment at 2:00 p.m. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
