Pryor, Estelle Owenby – age 94, passed away February 20, 2012 at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tennessee. She was born on December 11, 1917 in the Sevier County community of Little Greenbrier to Isaac Marshall and Ellen Lawson Owenby. Mrs. Pryor served as Secretary, Library Science Department, University of Tennessee until her retirement in 1982. She was also a long-standing member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years, Earl Wayne Pryor, and her siblings Roy Owenby, Sherrill Owenby, Mel Owenby, Lucille Owenby Carr, and Eugene Owenby. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Lynne Pryor, Ann Arbor, Michigan and the families of her three grandchildren: Robert Pryor, Santa Monica, California; Scott Pryor and his wife Emily, Austin, Texas; and Matthew Pryor and his wife Amy, Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by her sister, Cloella Owenby Sisk, her brother, Dan Owenby, her in-laws, Blanche Owenby and Elma Jean Owenby, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25 at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service. A brief memorial service will then be conducted by Rev. Bob Lynch, followed by Interment at Grandview Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 5302 Nails Creek Road, Maryville, Tennessee 37804. The family also wishes to express their gratitude to all friends and neighbors who have offered their assistance during the past months. The family also would like to extend our most profound expression of gratitude for the special kindness of neighbors Ross Bailey and Vic McCammon.
