Sherman Paul Blackwell-age 82, of Edwina, passed away at his home Friday, March 28, 2014. He proudly served in the United States Army, was a Korean War Veteran and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by mother Rettie and father Charlie Blackwell; brothers James Blackwell, Eulas Blackwell, Charles Blackwell and Earl Blackwell; sisters Mary Sue Rhea and Alleta Matthews; nephew James Ray Douglas. Sherman is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Melvina Blackwell; daughters and sons-in-law Brenda (Charlie) Rollins, Linda (Teddy) Kilgore and special granddaughter Kristin Kilgore; sister Edith Douglas and special niece Martha France; sister-in-law Annie and husband Wesley James, sister-in-law Shelby Coggins and brother-in-law Carl Coggins and wife Hilda. Many other nieces, nephews, friends and Church family. Visitation services will be Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 6 pm. to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Kelly Reed officiating. Interment services will be Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Union Cemetery with military honors. Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the Blackwell family.
