OWNBY DOTT H. - age 84 of Strawberry Plains, died Thursday, September 23, 2004 at 5:42 pm, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Veteran of WW II, US Army in the Pacific Theater. Member of Lyons Creek Baptist Church for over 40 years and the Sunday school class of Love. Preceded in death by his first wife Dora Jane Kerley Ownby, parents, several sisters and brother. Survivors; wife Betty Faye Ownby; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Becky Ownby, Don and Tamara Ownby, James and Linda Clark, Randy and Carol Gorman Kenneth Gorman Jr. and Cindy Moore; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister Stella Fillers, S.C.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 4 pm Sunday at Lyons Creek Baptist Church Rev. Rick Veal officiating. Family and friends will meet at 3:15 pm Monday at Pleasant Grove Piney Cemetery formerly Cate Cemetery for a 3:30 pm graveside service, with full military honors presented by the Volunteer State Honor Guard, active pallbearers, Ron Sharp, Terry Delapp, Larry Luttrell, Nathan Ownby, Christopher and Aaron Gorman, honorary pallbearers Wayne Cannon, Mike Black and Brandon Taylor. Family will receive friends 2-4 pm Sunday at Lyons Creek Baptist Church. Arrangements by Gentry-Griffey Chapel.
